Trying to Be a Functional Adult (With Cats Around)

I’ve been attempting to settle into a real work rhythm — you know, the kind where you wake up, make coffee, and actually do the things you planned to do. So far, it’s going… surprisingly well. But staying focused in a studio full of cats and creative temptations is like trying to meditate inside a carnival.

Every time I start painting, someone knocks something over. Every time I sit down to plan, a new idea taps me on the shoulder like, “Hey… what if we start a whole new collection right now.” Routine is happening. But it’s happening with the energy of someone herding cats while holding a paintbrush.

Preparing for the Next Indoor Market

The second indoor market is coming up, and I’ve decided to go big this time. Literally. The 5x7 pieces are staying home, and I’m focusing on 11x14 and larger works — bold, dramatic, and ready to make a statement. I’m also bringing a few canvas pouches because apparently I can’t stop making those either.

Noah’s Latest Escape (Because of Course)

In other news, Noah has escaped again. This time it was in broad daylight, and he was only out for under an hour — which I guess counts as progress. While he was out, he managed to get into a full glass‑door standoff with a large tabby I’ve never seen before. We may have a new neighborhood rival. Noah is already plotting his next move.

I’ve officially entered my Large Frame Era. I found some beautiful big frames for the new market collection, and it feels strange to be hunting for larger sizes after years of obsessing over 5x7s and 8x10s. Growth is weird. And heavy. But the new pieces deserve the spotlight.
